*Notes: The video above is played in whatever key the highland pipes play in, not the fiddle version in D here.  Peter Macfarlane writes: “When Highland pipes play a nominal A (as written on the staff), it sounds as something a little sharp of Bb. So this tune, written in D as far as standard notation is concerned, sounds a little sharp of Eb. Pipes for a long time were tuned to Bb, but have been drifting sharp of that over the years in an attempt to sound brighter for competitions.”  Thanks, Peter.
